The gig at The Rapture was one of the most anticipated gigs in a long time, in respect of expectations there were a lot of rumours flying around about how good the second album was and how The Killers and Razorlight were turning up to see them perform.
They came on late which didn't impress many and was hardly a great start. But, when the band came on they started up the grinding noise, like starting a machine that is run on Level 42, Police, Daft Punk petrol. Think Bass, electro and beats, a good hybrid.
The crowd loved the ones they knew and reacted well, but the band, they didn't live up to the hype. Through the middle of the set, the cacophonic sounds of some of their less known songs was not exactly thrilling and they were dangerously close to being boring. It was like being in a mental hospital and in some ways you could only appreciate songs like "Killing" and "Wayuh" for artistic and not musical values.
I think during this time there was a slight feeling of fear in the atmosphere, fear of not liking the song, fear of not getting the song but mostly fear of being at a bad gig. Overall it was a good experience but you were left wanting more and not for the right reasons.
