When You Were Young

Las Vegas mega band 'The Killers' finally made a long awaited return in 2006, and it's been well worth the wait. After the huge success of 2004's number 1 album 'Hot Fuss', no little expectation hung around these boys.

They've responded in the only sensible way – by growing ridiculous facial hair and releasing this hugely catchy and instantly recognisable synthesiser-rock monster. It had the riffs, beats and electro clout of the very best moments from the debut, combined with a catchy lyric that completed its stadium rock credentials.

The song builds up, breaks right down to Brandon's lonesome voice, and then builds again with the introduction of a full string section for the finale. In Glastonbury 2004 the kids were singing 'I've got soul but I'm not a soldier', and in 2007 it would be this song if the rumours that they were headlining were indeed true.
