Setting Sun
01 September, 01:21pm by matthewhirtes | comments (0)

Intriguing by name, intriguing by nature. After being drawn in by the Australian quartet´s moniker, Juanita Stein´s warbled vocals mesmerize you with the hypnotic power of Derren Brown. Truly, there is no escape from this 'Setting Sun'. The third single released from their self-titled album of country-streaked blues rock, Ms Stein´s distinctive singing is matched by her brother Joel´s moody guitar playing. There´s no let up in quality when it comes to the B-side either. 'Today' plays like Hope Sandoval fronting a Mexican Velvet Underground tribute band.
