Awoo

Reading reviews that offer opinions of this 'The Hidden Cameras' 3rd album not being homosexual enough or lacking the personality of previous offerings, even suggestions of a middle of the road agenda is ARSE (pardon the pun), take no notice!

The best thing to do is treat this album as the first, and judge it on merit rather than its predecessors. 'Awoo' is a great musical journey that explored many genres, decades, and influences along the way. The title track 'Awoo' is something one could imagine the Beach Boys recording if they were together today (aahh takes me back to that Brian Wilson concert).

'Heaven Turns To' is a pretty piano ballad that on first hearing could be mistaken for Rufus Wainwright, in fact it quite clearly doesn't avoid being a complete imitation, good though nevertheless. Other interesting numbers are the Cossack- Russian style 'Heji', and the more conventional 'Death of a Tone', along with the extremely catchy 'Wandering'.

'Awoo' is one of those albums you really have to gamble on, guaranteed there is something here for most who appreciate an eclectic selection; it really is worth buying just to break the monotony of Pop – Rock repetitions that frequent the radio waves.
