The term “contemporary instrumental” is used to describe contemporary music that is produced without using any electronic instruments. Artists who fall into this category include solo pianist David Lanz. Similarly, pianists such as Yanni and Bradley Joseph both use this term as well, although they do use keyboards to incorporate layered orchestral textures into their compositions.
