Aura

Aura Dione is a French/Faroese/Danish/Spanish, 23 year old singer/songwritersinger. Having a French mother, and a Danish/Spanish father, who were both music lovers, Aura has written music since the age of 8. After having lived on the small island of Bornholm, she moved to Australia when she was 17. There she played music with the Aboriginals, an experience that changed her attitude on towards creating music.

In 2008 she released her first full album called “Columbine”, that were produced in collaboration with some of Denmark’s best producers, and which were received with good reviews by the critics. Aura gives us everything from deluxe pop to storytelling singer-songwriting and ”Woman with an attitude” music like Kate Nash and Lily Allen. The lead single, ”Something From Nothing”, has already become a big Danish radio hit. ”Song For Sophie” will certainly become another one, while the opening song ”Glass Bone Crash”, “Clean Hands” (about incest) and ”Antony” (a tribute to the Antony And The Johnsons singer) show us the full range of Aura’s great, Feist/Tracy Chapman reminiscent voice. ”Columbine” is an appropriate title for such a well done and long lasting album. Aura dances along with her voice, her personal, but never private lyrical universe and her clear style.
