'The Phrase That Pays' was a 2006 single from the Chicago quintet The Academy is… and it came off the back of a very successful period for them. After selling out their first UK trip, the 'Ambitious Ones and Smoking Guns' tour, and supporting label mates Fall Out Boy, the myspace favourites were hoping for chart success after all that good publicity. 'The Phrase That Pays' doesn't pretend to be something it's not. There are no gimmicks and ridiculous attempts to be clever, this is just a good rock and roll track; nothing more and nothing less.
